What is a toll
free number and how does it work
Toll-free numbers are numbers
that begin with one of the
following three-digit codes:
800, 888, 877, or 866. Toll-free
numbers allow callers to reach
businesses and/or individuals
without being charged for the
call. The charge for using a
toll-free number is paid by the
called party (the toll-free
subscriber) instead of the
calling party. Toll-free numbers
can be dialed directly to your
business or personal telephone
line.
Do you have personal toll
free Numbers?
Our
Personal
Toll Free plan
is for those customers that need
the convenience and power of an
incoming toll free number.
There's a $3 monthly service fee
and it's only $0.15 per
minute. Personal 800 numbers are
only for incoming calls from the
48 continental United States. SIGN

I am building
a new home. Can FMCTC wire my
home for telephone, data, and
video?
Yes. Call our Business
Office at 744-3131 to schedule
an appointment.
Do you
have recommendations for wiring
my home for advanced
telecommunications?
Yes.
Today’s homes are moving beyond
the one-phone, one-tv, and
one-computer stage and so is a
home’s wiring requirements. New
homes today should be built—and
older homes should be
retrofitted—with ‘structured’
wiring systems that have the
capacity to handle digital
high-speed voice, data, audio
and video signals.
FMCTC Recommendations:
Category
5E cable (CMX outdoor rated) for
voice and data
RG-6
coaxial cable for video
All
cables should be “home runs”
back to a central distribution
box—much like a home’s
electrical
service panel—located in a utility room.
Each
jack should have two CAT 5E and
one RG-6 cable.
Whether
new construction or a major
remodel, telecom wiring should
be roughed in before the walls
are covered.
Changing
the wiring system in a home
after initial construction can
be difficult and expensive so
plan ahead an install a better system.
In order to get
top performance
from your telecommunications
wiring, it must be installed
correctly. Just the size of
wire isn’t enough. The
installation techniques, jacks,
and connections are all part of
the system and must be done
correctly.
To
avoid performance problems, hire
an experienced installer such as
a FMCTC professional.
What do I do? When I pick up
my phone to make a call, there
is no dial tone---the line
appears to be ‘dead.’ Do I need
to contact the FMCTC office to
report this, or does FMCTC
automatically know that there is
a problem?
You need to contact the
FMCTC office to report any
problems--or any change in your
phone line. Most often, we do
not know that a problem exists
with your phone line unless you
contact us. If you notice
static, ‘noise,’ or any other
problem with your phone line,
please contact us immediately.
Is there a way I can receive
my office or home phone calls on
my Verizon or Community Phone?
Yes. Add Sim (Simultaneous)
Ring to your office or home
phone line and then when this
number is dialed it will ring
your Verizon or Community Phone
simultaneously.
To add
this calling feature to your
business or home phone line,
contact us at 744-3131. SimRing
is just $1/month. SimRing is
FREE is you have a Community
Phone.
I have FMCTC’s Voice Mail
service on my home phone. Can I
check my voice mail messages
when I am away from home?
Yes. Using a
touch-tone phone, simply dial
744-MAIL, enter your 10-digit
phone number, enter your
password, and then check your
voice mail as you normally
would.
