How does it work?
A digital wireless network
FMCTC Wireless is an all-digital, wireless
network that is served by a switch housed at the
office in Harlan and by 14 towers. The tower
locations are rural-Hancock, rural-Tennant,
Irwin, rural-Irwin, Defiance, Earling, rural-Earling,
rural-Westphalia, rural-Harlan, rural-Kirkman,
Manilla area, and three towers in and around the
town of Harlan. All of the monopole towers, most 150’ tall, have
antennas that send signal.
PCS Technology
FMCTC Wireless is a PCS network that works on
the 1900 MHz. radio frequency. PCS stands for
Personal Communications Service. It is the name
given by the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) when the 1900 MHz. frequency was
auctioned. FMCTC purchased the
license to use this frequency in our area.
PCS
uses the latest digital technology. The
digital technology ensures privacy, high call
completion rate, and excellent voice clarity.
